Marisa Aragón Ware is a multidisciplinary fine artist, illustrator and author of Hispanic, Navajo and European ancestry whose work explores the interdependence that sustains both humans and the natural world. Born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, she uses paper sculpture, cyanotype, and illustration to create intricate visual narratives inspired by biodiversity, ecology and the reciprocity that supports ecosystems and life on this planet. Her work is deeply influenced by the theory of biophilia—the idea that humans possess an innate psychological and spiritual connection to nature—and she seeks to inspire wonder, exploration, and stewardship by sharing her deep connection to the Earth and its inhabitants.
Her illustration clients include Disney, Mattel, Penguin Random House, Simon and Schuster, Sterling Brands, and Harper Collins. She received her MFA from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, and currently teaches in the Drawing and Painting Department at the University of Colorado.
